A WORD FROM OUR EXECUTIVE CHEF…

Hello Senior Connection!

My name is Sky Barker and I am the Chef/Nutrition Director at the Senior Connection. I’ve had a passion for cooking good food for as long as I can remember, and have spent my time as the head chef at wonderful restaurants in the valley including The Mint and Zou 75. I was born and raised in the Wood River Valley, and am really grateful for the opportunity to work at the Senior Connection. I am most excited about helping the community, and my favorite part so far has been meeting new people. The Kansas City Chiefs are hands down the greatest football team of all time. I am a soon to be first-time father and in my spare time you can find me spending time with my lovely partner Rose, and fur baby Tank. Come on by for lunch – I look forward to meeting you!

Thanks,

Frequently Asked Questions

We deliver nutritious lunches for seniors four days a week with the option to include an additional sack lunch intended for non-delivery days. Our program is highly customizable– you can pick-and-choose your days based on the menu or even order as many meals per day as you’d like. Warm lunch delivery days are Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. Sack lunch delivery days are Wednesdays and Fridays.

Participants typically fall under the following criteria, although each application is considered case-by-case. Everyone in need is encouraged to apply;

  • Age: 60 years and older, although can be younger with disabilities
  • Health: Individuals who have difficulty preparing their own meals due to physical or mental health conditions, such as mobility limitations, surgical recovery, chronic illness, or cognitive impairment
  • Income: Low-income individuals with little to no income (We offer a scholarship application!)
  • Support System: Individuals who often live alone and don’t have anyone available to prepare meals for them regularly

Our meals always come with a warm plate (an entrée with two sides) and a cold plate (salad, fruit, and dessert). Sack lunches consist of a hearty homemade sandwich, fruit, chips and a cookie. Please check the monthly menu on below or request one from our front desk.

Both warm and sack lunches cost $5.00 each. However, we encourage you to request a scholarship application if you need financial assistance! Additionally, the Office on Aging reimburses us $2.50/meal for every senior over the age of 60.

Meals can be paid by…

  • monthly invoices sent to your mailing address
  • monthly checking/saving account charge
  • monthly credit/debit card charge

Yes! Please reach out to our MOW Coordinator to request a scholarship application!

Meals are delivered by our volunteer drivers, often in our Meals-on-Wheels vans which keep your lunch warm. Meals are delivered between 11:00 AM – 2:00 PM.

Unfortunately, we do not have the capacity to cater our meals per person at this time. Our meals may include animal products, gluten, lactose, tree nuts and shellfish.

We have a standard 48hr application processing time. Unless we say otherwise, we will contact you to let you know when your deliveries will begin.

Please do not hesitate to reach out to our Meals-on-Wheels Coordinator, Anna. You can always reach her at;
