Reopening July 6 — Phase One Protocols

The Senior Connection will be open for lunch starting on Monday, July 6, 2020.  We want to move forward in the safest way possible and we have put a lot of time and thought into how to do that most effectively.   Please remember that the situation with the coronavirus is ever changing and we will adjust our plans accordingly.  Phase One of our reopen plan will begin on July 6th, and will add lunch in the dining room and the front patio to the ongoing services of home delivered meals and curbside pickup (which will revert to $5 per meal with financial assistance available).  The following protocols have been modeled on CDC guidelines and developed by our center-specific Reopen Task Force.

Health Screening

Every person entering the building will be required to have a health screening, including a temperature check.  Please see the back of this booklet for details of the screening.  If the person has any of the signs or symptoms, they will not be allowed in the building

Face Coverings

Every person entering the building will be required to wear a mask.  If you do not have a mask, one will be provided for you.  Masks may be removed when seated at assigned table.  When leaving the table for any reason, the masks must be worn.

Hand Washing and Sanitizing

Every person entering the building will be asked to use the hand sanitizer station.  After checking in, each person will be asked to wash their hands before sitting down at their table (and, of course, after using the bathroom).

Social Distancing

All lunches, beverages, soups, desserts, etc. will be pre-plated and served by volunteers, as if you were at a wedding banquet. Time to eat those healthy fruits and veggies! There will not be any self serve options at this time.

Tables will be cleared by volunteers.  Please be patient and wait for your table to be bussed.  You may leave before this happens if you’d like.

The dining room has been reconfigured to half capacity.  Tables are spread out and need to remain that way.  There is a limit of 6 people per table.

No touching.  As much as we have missed each other, all members, volunteers and staff should refrain from hugs, handshakes and other close contact.  Virtual high five!

Reservations—starting June 29

To accommodate the reduced capacity of the dining room, we will have two separate lunch times.  11:15 am—12:15 pm and 12:30 pm—1:30 pm.  The dining room will be cleaned and sanitized in between.

Reservations must be made for lunch at least 24 hours in advance.  Members must arrive within 15 minutes of the start of the lunch period.  (No later than 11:30 am for the first seating and 12:45 pm for the second seating).

Members will be allowed to make reservations for the current week only.  Reservations for the following week will  be taken starting on the Friday before at 9 am.

CDC guidelines recommend that diners eat and depart.  Lingering is discouraged and everyone will be asked to leave at the end of the dining period.  We will be hosting a few afternoon “Lemonade on the Lawn” events to offer some small group social opportunities.

If you are able to purchase a 10-punch lunch card for $50, please consider doing so to limit the exchange of money.

Covid Bubbles

Members will be asked to sit at the same table every time they visit the center and with the same people as much as possible based on who has made reservations.

Non-essential guests or visitors will be NOT be allowed at this time.  For example, grandchildren or visiting out of town guests.

Facility

During Phase 1, only the dining area and bathrooms will be open.  All other parts of the building will remain closed.

Members will enter through the front door and exit through the door on the south side of the building (the one we used last summer/fall during the remodel).

There will be markers/signs on the floor at the front desk and entrance to show recommended social distance spacing while checking in.

Some things to remember:

Please refer to the health screening questions before coming in.  If you have any signs or symptoms, please stay home and refer to the “Prevent the Spread of COVID-19 if You are Sick” flyer from the CDC.

Reservations will be taken starting June 29 for the week of July 6th.
